A/Prof Meri Firpo

Meri Firpo’s lab at the Stem Cell Institute at the University of Minnesota is focused on stem cell biology and therapies for diabetes.  She received her Ph.D. from the Cornell University Medical College. She then did postdoctoral fellowships generating hematopoietic stem cells from mouse ES cells, and human stem cell models.  At UCSF, she derived human ES cell lines included in the NIH Registry of Human ES cells, and lines suitable for transplantation therapies.  At UMN, she is using human stem cells as a model of development and disease progression, and differentiating stem cells into functional tissues for transplantation.
